Behind every flourishing library is a community that supports literacy and learning. By joining Library Lovers, you become a champion for the important work of Mid-Continent Public Library in homes, schools, and other organizations throughout Clay, Jackson, and Platte Counties. Your membership helps fund programs and outreach services provided by our library system. There are many ways to participate in the Library Lovers membership program. To get started, choose an option below:

Milk & Cookies Events

All Junior Library Lovers are invited to a celebration of storytelling and imagination at the annual Milk & Cookies event. Junior members have the opportunity to share milk & cookies with their favorite authors and book characters. Members will enjoy an author-led storytime and they will have the chance to get their complimentary book personalized.

Library Lovers Socials

Embrace the Library Lovers community with an invitation to exclusive member events, ranging from movie nights and author-led book clubs to craft lessons, tours, and beyond. Library Lovers at the Chapter 1 level and above are invited to participate in Library Lovers Social Events. These gatherings will be held quarterly at various branches within the MCPL system or hosted at a business in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Sign up for a Library Lovers membership to access exclusive events based on your membership level. Enjoy member-only experiences such as the annual holiday event (Chapter 2+), past events have included trivia nights and theater performances. Elevate your literary passion with a VIP Luncheon with a local author (Chapter 3+). Indulge in a Library Lovers Culinary Experience (Chapter 4+), offering a hands-on culinary adventure with a local chef at the Culinary Center.
