Have you ever wished you could have a personal genealogist work with you one-on-one? Do you have a genealogical "brick wall" you can't get past? A database that won't do what you think it should?
Staff members at the Midwest Genealogy Center are willing to help you with questions such as these and many more. Not to replace paid genealogical assistance, this free program, "Appointment with a Genealogy Consultant," will have library staff members set aside time to spend with one person, working on one genealogical question. Some of the consultants set a schedule for their appointments; others will schedule it when it's convenient for you. The appointments last about forty-five minutes and cover a variety of subjects, including:
- Foreign research questions
- Topical research questions, such as:
- heirloom preservation,
- how to use particular genealogy computer programs,
- or any "brick wall" that is preventing you from continuing your genealogical research
To schedule an appointment, call the Midwest Genealogy Center at (816)252-7228 or email mgc@mymcpl.org. The staff will ask for information about the specific genealogical question you wish to discuss, your name, phone number, email, and the best time for you to meet with our consultant. We request a minimum of a week's notice.
