An Evening with Shelby Van Pelt

Library Lovers members are invited to a special evening with New York Times bestselling author Shelby Van Pelt. The Mid-Continent Public Library Foundation is hosting this exclusive event on Saturday, November 9, at 5:30 p.m.

Held at the Sobela Ocean Aquarium at the Kansas City Zoo, this unique setting provides the perfect ambiance to discuss Van Pelt's hit novel, Remarkably Bright Creatures. Known affectionately as the "Octopus Book," the novel tells a poignant and quirky story of Tova Sullivan, a widow who finds companionship in an unexpected friendship with Marcellus, an octopus with an extraordinary personality. Set against the magical backdrop of the aquarium, attendees will find themselves immersed in Van Pelt's world, surrounded by sea life just like in her novel.

This is an exclusive opportunity for Library Lovers members to meet Shelby Van Pelt in person, listen to her insights about the book, and even participate in a signing session afterward. Attendees can bring their own copy of Remarkably Bright Creatures or purchase one at the event to be autographed.
