Yom Kippur will begin at sundown this evening and end tomorrow evening. Known as the Day of Atonement, this is the holiest day of the Jewish calendar and follows Rosh Hashanah, a celebration of the start of the Jewish New Year. During Yom Kippur, many observers fast, attend religious services, and reflect upon the past year. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are often referred to as the Jewish High Holidays.
