Automotive Assistance…at the Library?

Did you know that the Library can help you with your automotive needs? In your local MCPL branch, check out the community areas for the driver's test manuals or the shelves for Chilton books. Ask a staff member if you’re unsure where these are.

Or you can use the Library’s online resources, many of which are available to access with your Library card from the comfort of home. Be sure to check out: 

• ChiltonLibrary.com – If you know the year, make, and model of your vehicle, you can use this resource to find photos, troubleshooting steps, maintenance support, and wiring information for cars made between 1901 and 2022. You can also easily print out articles for later reference. If you are looking into becoming an automotive technician, Chilton also provides 13 prep test exams for aspiring ASE technicians. 
• Small Engine Repair Reference Center – Are you mechanically minded? Do you need some tips or support for your engine maintenance? Whether it’s your tractor, lawn mower, motorboat, four-wheeler, generator, or motorcycle, each of these items has a plethora of step-by-step manuals uploaded for ease and convenience, broken down by troubleshooting problem and engine part. 
• Mitchell 1 ProDemand (in-Library use only) – Do you run your own auto shop? Do you work as an automotive technician? If you already work in this field and come across something you may not be as familiar with, stop in the Library, look it up in this resource, watch one of the many in-depth videos, and get back to work! Are you trying to bring in new business? Use this resource to expand your business's marketing to catch a new group of clients.
• Consumer Reports – Are you wanting to buy a new car, trade in an old car, look up recalls, finance with auto loans, find maintenance tips, or check out 2023's newest models? Then there is no easier site to use than Consumer Reports. Find a wide range of expert information related to automotive purchase and upkeep.
• Access Video on Demand – Do you enjoy hot rods, automotive history, famous vehicles, or car safety videos? Look no further than one of the 50 videos available on Access Video on Demand! Use the search functions of this streaming service to find exactly what you need.
