Winter Reading Challenge: What to Read Next? Let us help you Expand Your Shelf!

Expand your shelf

March 15, 2024

Looking for your next bookish adventure now that the Winter Reading Challenge is over? Introducing EXPAND YOUR SHELF — this self-paced challenge includes a list of 20 reading prompts that will inspire you to get out into the library stacks and discover a whole new world of reading.

With prompts such as: “Read a book that has been translated from another language” and “Read a book that is an author’s debut work,” you’re invited to pick up new reads you might never have considered before.

From now until the end of the year, we’ll be posting two new prompts and a wide array of reading suggestions each month here on our blog. Bookmarks are available at your local branch; you can even download a copy here.

Expand Your Shelf isn’t just for adults, either. We also have Expand Your Shelf – Kids Edition: A series of 16 prompts across 4 bookmarks. With prompts like “Read a book that features your favorite animal” and “Read a book that is the first in a series,” kids will love challenging themselves by expanding their reading selections.

Whether you complete every single prompt or just one, we hope you’ll enjoy the process of discovering new titles.

Check back next week for the first installment of Expand Your Shelf.

We can’t wait to share great books and talk about what we’re reading, too! If you would like to share your Current Reads and TBR pile with fellow readers, consider joining our MCPL Readers’ Lounge Facebook Group for great reading-related discussion.
