Reservable Rooms at MCPL

Grandview Meeting Room

Looking for a space to hold a meeting or event? The Mid-Continent Public Library (MCPL) offers reservable community and meeting rooms, as well as special event spaces, at many of our branches. These rooms are perfect for meetings, study groups, or community gatherings.

What We Offer:

  • Community Rooms: These larger rooms are ideal for meetings and events. They may have fees associated with them, depending on the size and duration of your reservation.
  • Meeting Rooms: These smaller rooms are perfect for study groups or small gatherings. They are free to use for up to two hours per day.
  • Special Event Spaces: Mid-Continent Public Library is home to two unique event spaces: The Conference Center at the Midwest Genealogy Center in Independence, MO, and the Auditorium at Woodneath Library Center in Liberty/Kansas City, MO.

Who Can Use Our Rooms?

Our community rooms are available for use by individuals and groups composed primarily of residents within our library district. These spaces are not intended for commercial purposes or personal events (birthday parties, weddings, etc.).

Room Use Policies:

  • Small meeting Rooms
    • Small meeting rooms are free to use for up to 2 hours per day, per group/individual.
    • Additional time may be available if no one else is waiting.
    • Reservations for these rooms may be canceled if not used within 15 minutes of the start time.
  • Community Rooms
    • Community rooms can be reserved at no cost if your event requires fewer than 40 chairs, 10 tables, and 3 hours.
    • If you need a community room with more than 40 chairs, 10 tables, or 3 hours, a reservation fee of $30 will apply.
    • These rooms can be booked up to 90 days in advance.
    • Room reservations are limited to 4 per individual or group within a 90-day period. Subsequent reservations within the same 90 days will be subject to a $30 fee for each additional reservation.
  • All food brought into our spaces must be pre-packaged or commercially prepared. Food orders and cleanup are the responsibility of the reserving group.
  • Payment will be collected at the time of reservation at the branch.
  • A cleaning fee will be charged for any excessive damage to MCPL property.
  • Permission to use a community room does not imply MCPL endorsement of any group or organization.
  • All room use must comply with our Library Conduct Policy.

What if you cannot make your reservation?

  • If you need to cancel your room reservation, please notify us as soon as possible. Cancellations made at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled start time of your event will be eligible for a full refund.
  • If you have more than 2 no-shows within a 90-day period, you may be temporarily ineligible to reserve rooms for 90 days.
