We believe libraries should be a welcoming and safe space for everyone in our community. In recent years, MCPL has made great improvements to its spaces in an effort to provide the best possible environment for all ages and abilities.
But we want to do even more, and with your help, we can. Through Library Giving Day on April 4 and National Library Week April 23-29, we are asking for your help to establish the MCPL Access Fund. This fund will help us do more to create better resources for all, including:
- Providing aids and services to individuals with speech, hearing, or vision impairments, so they can participate equally in our programs, including qualified sign language interpreters, assistive listening devices, and audio descriptions
- Offering materials in multiple languages and language translations for programs
- Delivering books, audiobooks, music, and DVDs to customers who are homebound and cannot get to a Library branch because of health, mobility, advanced age, disability, and/or permanent or temporary incapacity
- Hosting sensory-sensitive storytimes that are designed to be inclusive of children’s sensory processing differences (like low lighting, softer music, and more interactive elements)
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to launch the MCPL Access Fund to ensure that every single member of our community can benefit from the programs and services of their local Library.
You can learn more and make your gift to the Access Fund at mymcpl.org/LibraryGivingDay.
