Digital Collections

Thanks to advancements in digitization technology and the diligent efforts of volunteers, a portion of the Midwest Genealogy Center’s print resources are now available digitally through our website.

The Midwest Genealogy Center is committed to accessibility and continues to expand its available digitized collections through cooperative projects with Familysearch and the Missouri State Archives.

Digitized Books

This digitized collection of published genealogy and family history books include histories of families, county and local histories, how-to books on genealogy, genealogy magazines and periodicals (including some international), medieval books, and gazetteers. This is a collaborative and on-going project with FamilySearch.

Jackson County and Kansas City Plat Books 1886-1925

Plat books are a treasure trove for genealogists, providing land ownership information on ancestors. This digital collection, which includes actual, exact, and complete images of the plat books, and name indexes, were completed by volunteers at the Midwest Genealogy Center. The digitized images are made publicly available by the State Archives of Missouri and the Missouri Digital Heritage database.
